  • July 24. An expeditionary fleet led by García Jofre de Loaisa departs from Spain enroute to the Strait of Magellan, with Moluccas as their intended destination. (Blair and Robertson vol. 2)

  • May. The expeditionary fleet led by García Jofre de Loaisa emerges from the Strait of Magellan. Of a total of seven ships, three ships have been lost, and a fourth had to seek supplies at Spanish settlements on the west coast of South America. His remaining three ships start their journey across the Pacific Ocean. (Blair and Robertson vol. 2)
