- 27 Feb 1945. The temporary capital of the Philippine commonwealth is established in Tacloban upon the arrival of Gen. MacArthur.
- 29 Feb 1945. Gen. MacArthur formally invests Sergio Osmeña with the full powers of President of the Philippine commonwealth. Sergio Osmeña reorganizes the Commonwealth government, forming a new cabinet and Council of State.
- 9 June 1945. The First Congress reconvenes for the first time since its members were elected on 11 Nov 1941.
